The Swedish AI of the Year award-winning orthopaedic surgeon Max Gordon gives a lecture in Jyväskylä

The Faculty of Information Technology at the Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥ and the Wellbeing Services County of Central Finland are organising a seminar on AI research in health and wellbeing on 14 November. The seminar will feature the winner of the Swedish AI of the Year Award, medical docents from Tampere and Helsinki University Hospitals and the digital director of the Wellbeing Services County of Central Finland.

The seminar on AI research in health and wellbeing will be held in Jyväskylä on 14 November at 12.00-15.30. The seminar will take place at the Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥'s Ruusupuisto building (RUU D104 Helena), Alvar Aallon katu 9, 40600 Jyväskylä.

The seminar will be opened by Max Gordon, Associate Professor of Orthopaedics at the Karolinska Institutet, winner of the Swedish AI of the Year Award (Ã…rets AI svensk). In addition to his medical research, Gordon has been an active developer of machine learning methods. He has founded the Clinical AI Research (CAIR) Laboratory at Danderyd Hospital, where they develop practical AI solutions to advance healthcare. 

In addition to Gordon's presentation, the seminar will also hear from medical docents Aleksi Reito (TAYS) and Enni Sanmark (HUS) on the potential, effectiveness and risks of AI. The day will be concluded by a lecture by Jari Porrasmaa, Chief Digital Officer of the Wellbeing Services County of Central Finland, on the data lake environment as a driver of research and innovation.

In addition to the guests, the seminar will provide an opportunity to learn about the research and development activities of the Central Finland AI hub II project through poster presentations. The project network is developing AI platforms to promote the use of health and wellbeing data. 

The seminar presentations are in English. There is no possibility to participate remotely.

Central Finland AI Hub II 

The Central Finland AI Hub II project is funded by the European Regional Development Fund and combines artificial intelligence and health sciences. The project is a collaboration between companies in the field, the Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥'s Faculty of Information Technology, the Wellbeing Services County of Central Finland and the Central Finland Biobank.
