Digital Health Intelligence Laboratory

The Digital Health Intelligence Laboratory aims to develop smart, data-driven solutions to real-world problems that are central to promoting the health and well-being of people.

Data-driven solutions to real-world problems

Our laboratory is located in central Finland in the beautiful city of Jyväskylä: a city that forms a centre of expertise for well-being and information technology. We work on multidisciplinary projects in collaboration with our research network of national and international partners.

Our mission is to study and create data-driven methods and models that enable, for example, the generation of new health knowledge from data, the automation of routine medical tasks, or the generation of synthetic data to advance the RDI-operations of the field.

Practical applications include predicting growth and physical health development of children, detecting risk factors for sports injuries, early diagnosis of osteoarthritis, understanding the factors that lead to better physical activity, and effective targeting of physical exercise interventions for cardiac surgery patients.

Our partners are primarily wellness and health professionals and businesses operating in the field.

Cooperation with businesses and academic operators

We work with academic operators as well as businesses. Together with the wellbeing services county of Central Finland, the central hospital of Central Finland Nova and AI Hub Central Finland, we form a regional centre of expertise for well-being. We implement multidisciplinary projects with our research network that consists of national and international partners.
