JYU educational sciences 67th in Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE)

In this global ranking, JYU reached 67th position in education, which was the second highest in Finland, after the University of Helsinki (52). As for other subject areas, JYU’s ’ranking in psychology as well as arts and humanities was between 201–250, in business and economics as well as in social sciences 251–300, in physical sciences 301–400, in clinical and health sciences 401–500, and in computer science between 501–600.

In the evaluation criteria of this university comparison, a weight of 60%is placed on research, including its volume, financing, impact of scientific publications, and the university’s reputation within the global academic community. There are altogether 13 results indicators, and besides research, they measure teaching (30%), internationality (7.5%) and corporate collaboration and innovations (2.5%).
In the overall ranking of universities, JYU was placed within the range of 401-500, like in the previous year as well. Among Finnish universities, JYU shared seventh position. Exact rankings are calculated for the top-200 universities only. In all, THE rankings involved more than 1500 top universities across the world.
