Europe Teaching Rankings: Ģֱ recognised for quality of teaching

In making their evaluation, the judges cited the interaction of Ģֱ staff with students, the university’s teaching resources, and the inclusiveness–that is, the accommodation of diversity–of the teaching facilities. The data used in carrying out the Europe Teaching Rankings was collected directly from a variety of sources, including university students and university websites, the Academic Reputation Survey, the database of the academic publishing company Elsevier, and a number of public sources.
Times Higher Education began aggregating evaluations of teaching standards at higher education institutions in 2018. In the survey conducted last year, which was the piloting phase of the project, eight countries were included, namely the United Kingdom, Spain, Germany, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Portugal and Ireland. The 2019 ranking covers a total of 18 European countries, including the Nordic countries.
“We are very pleased with this result. The criteria the evaluation was based on, such as the degree of involvement of students, the quality of the learning outcomes, and the accessibility of the learning environments, are areas we have put a lot of resources and effort into developing”, says the Ģֱ’s vice rector of education, Marja-Leena Laakso. “This recognition shows that we are doing the right things ambitiously in education and training”.
