Electronic degree certificates introduced in May
Electronic certificates will be provided for degrees that are applied for on Thursday, 4 May 2023, and thereafter. Printed degree certificates will be provided for degrees applied for until 3 May. Therefore, to receive a printed degree certificate, the student must apply for the degree in Sisu by Wednesday, 3 May 2023. All studies to be included in the degree must be completed and entered in the study register by 3 May 2023.
The electronic degree certificate is an official original certificate in PDF format with an electronic signature of the dean or vice dean. The student makes the graduation request in Sisu and receives an email when the electronic certificate is downloadable from the certificate service. The student can save the electronic degree certificate on, for example, a personal computer, cloud service or memory stick. More detailed instructions on certificate practices will be published on the JYU web-site before the change.
Students can print a copy of the electronic degree certificate if they so wish. According to the deci-sion of Director of Student and Academic Services on 9 March 2023, students can also request a printed copy of electronic degree certificate from the University after graduation. The copy of the certificate is printed on regular white paper, and it will not be stamped, signed or certified for a true copy. The copy is delivered to the student by mail in a folder. When printed on paper, the copy of electronic certificate is not an official document. The copies of degree certificates are provided for free until further notice.
