Education at JYU among the best of the world

JYU’s research in education ranked 36th in the Shanghai Ranking.

JYU’s research in education ranked 36th in the Shanghai Global Ranking of Academic Subjects published on Monday. With the placement, which improved three steps from the last year, we are the best Nordic and the sixth best European higher education institution.

“This result proves that JYU is among the world’s leading research universities, as stated in our vision,” says Vice Rector Marja-Leena Laakso. “We are especially proud to be among the best in education, which is one of our core fields.”

Also 14 other branches of science from JYU were included in global top 500. Communication and Mathematics placed 101–150, Psychology, Chemistry and Hospitality and Tourism Management (at JYU Sport & Tourism) ranked 201–300, Ecology and Business Administration 301–400. Physics, Economics, Political Sciences, Management, Computer Science Engineering, Clinical Medicine (at JYU Gerontology) and Public Health ranked 401–500.

The ranking included in total 4,000 universities. It observed, for example, the quality of research, international cooperation, publications in top journals and significant academic awards.
