EBEN’s mission is to promote ethics and excellence in business to increase awareness about ethical challenges in the global marketplace and to enable dialogue on the role of business in society.

Alina’s award-winning thesis is focused on persuasion tactics used in communication about corporate misinformation. It has used a recent case of KLM, one of the biggest airlines in Europe, being accused of greenwashing by activists.

- The research has compared communication done by both parties about the case to understand how actors try to persuade their audience, says Alina Arti, Doctoral Researcher in corporate communication at JSBE.

- Winning this award is a big honor. It is a great feeling when other people find your work interesting and impactful. As well as I did not expect it to happen because I learned about the competition by accident. It was a big surprise to me to win this award.

The master's thesis has had a major impact on Alina's career and doctoral studies. She is also developing the project further as a part of her PhD journey.

- When I was working on the thesis, I did not expect it to be so impactful in how the future stages of my academic career would be shaped. It has determined the direction of my doctoral studies and outlined the scope of topics that I want to research, tells Alina.

Alina Arti's master's thesis supervisor was Professor Vilma Luoma-aho.
