Abstract: In his thesis “Transition-edge sensors for particle-induced X-ray emission” MSc Marko Käyhkö has used a method called particle-induced X-ray emission. With the used methdod, elemental analysis can be done routinely in many laboratories, but identification of chemical species requires much more precise detectors. For this reason, transition-edge sensors are used to detect the fine details of X-ray (emission) spectrum. What makes this research unique is the ability to do both the elemental analysis and chemical speciation with the same equipment.
