Media landscapes, uses and practices
Research on both traditional and digital media is conducted from different perspectives. We approach media uses and practices in the context of media ecologies that comprise the complex interplay between humans, media, and technology. Our research investigates how media are (re)constructed, (re)made and (re)valued across a variety of societal, institutional and everyday contexts.
We are interested in how mediatization, accompanied by such processes as datafication, digitalization and globalization, are shaping not only media and communication, but also the forms and conditions of everyday life in which they are embedded. Through our work, we aim at contributing to discussions and policies on the role and significance of media in societal changes, such as the changing forms of work, and the expertise and knowledge such changes call for.
