Look for a possible client for your thesis with an open mind
A final thesis, which is part of the University’s degree requirements, is an academic paper in which the student demonstrates his/her knowledge of the discipline and applies scientific knowledge to solve a defined research problem. The research problem of a final thesis (e.g. a master’s thesis or doctoral dissertation) is based on the needs of the world of work. You may also use your thesis as an asset when looking for a job after completing the degree.
Think first what are your own targets of interest, what are topical subjects and what kind of research you would like to conduct. Ensure also if your degree programme has certain conditions for the thesis. The supervisor of your thesis must also approve the subject and the problem setting.
Look for a possible client for your thesis with an open mind. Do you or your network have contacts already? The client may be, for example, the employer of your former internship or summer job. Some employers offer thesis writing jobs directly to departments. Use also various portals when looking for a contact. You may also use the job portal of Career Services to search thesis writing jobs for students.
When a thesis is written as a job assignment, the student and the employer negotiate on the details.
