Changing your degree programme during your studies

During student admission, you get the right to study in a bachelor’s and master’s programme or in a master’s programme. You have the right to complete the degrees completed in the said degree programme. If you want to change your degree programme during your studies, carefully read the instructions on changing your degree programme and the student admission procedures. It is not possible to apply to some degree programmes by changing degree programmes, but you must always apply through the student admission route.

Changing your degree programme in the master’s phase

Changing the degree programme in the master’s phase usually takes place by participating in the student admission of the master’s programme via a joint application.

Depending on the faculty there are situations where you can apply to change the degree programme in the master’s phase. Check the instructions that are specific to your faculty.

Faculty-specific instructions

As an undergraduate student of the Faculty of Mathematics and Science of the Ģ��ֱ��, you can apply for the right to transfer from the faculty’s master’s programme to another. A change from one master’s programme to another can be granted if you have a sufficient background for the master’s programme and if the department has the resources to accept students to the master’s programme you applied for. As a result of changing the degree programme, your right to complete the degree in the original degree programme expires. The remaining duration of your studies does not change due to changing the degree programme

The special requirement for transferring to the Master’s Degree Programme in Nanoscience is that you have completed at least 10 credits of advanced studies in the master’s programme.

If you are applying for the right to transfer from English-language education to Finnish-language education or vice versa, you must demonstrate your language proficiency in accordance with the current general admission guidelines of the Ģ��ֱ��, in the same way as during the application phase. If ACRES is used to verify language proficiency in the target degree programme, you must verify your language proficiency using the methods specified in the general admission guidelines.

The dean of the faculty or a person appointed by them decides on the changing of the degree programme in the master’s phase.
