For over thirty years now, Jyväskylä has been the only university in the Nordic countries where one can study the Slovak language and culture.

Slovak is studied all around the world, and enthusiasts of the language from numerous countries gather annually at the Studia Academica Slovaca – the summer school for Slovak language and culture held in Bratislava. The Slovak language thus forms a cultural bridge that takes Finnish students around the globe.
