Choosing the completion method and teaching
In Sisu, students first plan their studies in the primary personal study plan corresponding to their study right (HOPS) on the Structure of studies tab. After this the courses can be timed on the Timeline tab to ease registration.
On the Structure of studies page you can see whether the completion method has been selected. If the completion method has not been selected, it can be done by clicking on the Select completion method button on the right side of the study section. You can also view the completion methods that are already been selected by clicking the Show completion method button.

You can choose the completion method from the options offered on the course and then confirm the choice.

After that you will have to select the implementations related to the completion method and register for them in the Registration view.
Completion methods can also be selected from the course brochure. You can get there by clicking the blue course code. If the course has alternative completion methods, choose the one based on which you want to complete the course.
Go to the Completion methods tab of the course brochure and select the method you want to use to complete the course. The course selection can be done by clicking the completion method (e.g. Method 2) and then Select this completion method.
After choosing the completion method any teaching attached to this method can be taken to the Study calendar for registration by clicking the blue Select -button.
NOTE that at this stage, the course events have only been added to the calendar, and you have not registered for the course yet!
Sisu will now guide you to the Registration page by showing a blue banner at the top of the page. There you can choose the necessary study group preferences and fill in other information to finish the registration.
NB! A study plan template is required to be able to register for teaching. There are also available
Registration on the Registration page
On the Sisu Registration page you can choose the completion method for a course, choose which course implementation you want to participate in and register for the course implementations. The registration view's purpose is to see at once which courses you should register for. The courses are listed in the same chronological order by period as on the Timeline, if you have scheduled your studies on your timeline. You can plan your schedule in your study calendar before registration and registration in the study calendar is still possible.
1. Choose the correct study right for the registration.

2. Click the blue button “Select a course unit” on the course you want to register for and proceed to select the completion method.

3. Once you have chosen the completion method, you can register at the bottom of the page. There is a blue “Register” button on the course if the registration is active. After clicking the button, check the study right and choose a study group if needed. Lastly verify your registration.

If the requirements for the registration aren’t fulfilled, you can see the course in section 2. Registration being processed. There you can check which requirements weren’t fulfilled. If the registration is confirmed, the course moves to section 3. Registration processed.

If you need to change your group preferences, you can do this during the registration period by editing your registration.

Registration in the study calendar
After the course implementation has been added to the calendar, you can register for it. Choose the implementation you want to register for on the Registration tab of the calendar's selection assistant.
The study groups and schedules of the course implementation can be viewed by clicking the arrow button on the right side of the course’s box.
If there are more than one optional study group on the course implementation, you need to choose which groups fit your calendar prior to registering. You can view the schedules of different groups in the study calendar by activating their Show events in the calendar switches. This way, you can check for possible overlaps in the schedules of other courses and your own notes. Study groups with confirmed registrations are always shown in the calendar, but otherwise the Show events in the calendar switches need to be activated or deactivated by the student.
Study groups can be set as Preferred groups based on the registration instructions (e.g. Select 1 preferred group). It is done by selecting This group is my first preference. Sisu places students in their Preferred groups, and only into other groups if necessary. It is also possible to mark groups only as suitable if it doesn't matter to which group you will be accepted. If students are set to not prioritise any groups during registration, the division into groups is either done by the responsible teacher/administrative person(s), the groups themselves are voluntary with no need for registration, or registration is done outside Sisu e.g. in a learning environment.
After you have made the all the selections needed, you can click the Register button at the bottom of the registration box. If you have more than one study right, you are asked to choose which study right is used for the registration. The study right selection affects the basic requirements and selection criteria of registration, which are mentioned on the course brochure. You can open the course brochure on the bottom of the calendar box.
If the registration has compulsory questions, they need to be answered in order to proceed. Answers to the registration questions can be edited by clicking Update registration during the registration period.

Registration status
After confirming the registration, Sisu checks the requirements set for registration and calculates the status based on these requirements and students' study group preferences.
This calculation happens within a minute or so of the registration. Until that, a question mark icon is shown on the Registration tab of the calendar, along with a text stating that The registration status is being calculated. Once the calculation is finished, you will see whether you fulfill the requirements to be accepted to the course implementation or not, and an estimation of whether your registration will be confirmed or not.
If the registration is ongoing, Sisu can only give an estimation of whether your registration would be confirmed if the registration period ended now. If a student who is ranked higher in the registration criteria registers for the implementation later, and a study group you have set as the one you prefer reaches its limit of participants, the registration status may change. Keep an eye on your study calendar and make sure that you know the result of the registration. On some course implementations (e.g. independent study essays), the registrations are confirmed immediately as long as the implementation has not reached its limit of participants and the student fulfills the basic requirements set for registration.
The selection criteria are shown on the Registration section of the calendar. If you do not fulfill the selection criteria, it is mentioned here.
If you meet the requirements, the implementation has not reached its maximum number of participants or you are ranked above other registered students, a text If the registration period ended now, you would be selected appears. NB! If a student who is ranked higher in the registration criteria registers for the implementation later, and a study group you have set as the one you prefer reaches its limit of participants, the registration status may change.
Cancelling and discontinuing
Registration can be cancelled during the registration period. After cancelling registration the course can be removed from the study calendar. After the registration period has ended, students cannot cancel their registration unless the course has a separate cancellation period. In this case, the course completion needs to be discontinued.
In standard registration students can discontinue their participation if they have been accepted and confirmed into the course, the course has started and the extended cancellation period has ended. If the registration uses direct confirmation, discontinuing can be done after the course has started.
Discontinuation is done by clicking the Discontinue Teaching -button at the bottom of the calendar box. After discontinuation, students cannot re-register for the same course themselves. Once the discontinuation has been confirmed, the course can be found in the Finished and discontinued section of the study calendar where it can be deleted. Discontinuing automatically removes any reservations from the calendar.
Registration for Cross-studies
Registration made at the home university is transferred to the destination university and the right to cross-study is created there. Cross-studies must be completed while the degree right of the home university is valid. Cross-study is limited to the time of obtaining the degree, i.e. after graduation, you cannot continue network studies as an alumni.
Registration does not mean that you will be able to study. The target university may have some criteria, due to which you may not be able to participate. If the registration is successful at the Ģֱ during the registration period, but does not go through, you should contact the target university.
If necessary, the target university will instruct you to create credentials for the target university. The course and credits will be transferred to the home university automatically through the cross-study service (RIPA).
