Transitioning between curricula in general

General guidelines for transitioning between curricula.

Faculty councils decide on the curricula of degree programmes (OPS). One curriculum lasts four academic years. The current curriculum is 2024-2028. When transitioning between curricula, decisions are made regarding transitional provisions and compatibility between curricula. This includes, for instance, making sure that any changes made to courses align smoothly between curricula.

The transition period of the previous curriculum 2020-2024 is following:

  • the transition period for study modules and courses ends on July 31, 2025
  • the transition period for degree programs ends on July 31, 2030.

The transition period for earlier 2017-2020 curriculum study modules and courses ended on July 31, 2021, and the transition period for degree programs ends on July 31, 2026 (as per decision by the vice-rector on April 1, 2020). The transition period for degree programs means that you can graduate with degree structures according to the curriculum in question until the end of the transition period.

Students start their studies according to the current curriculum. If the curriculum period changes before your degree is completed, you can switch to completing the degree according to the new curriculum. Alternatively, you can follow the degree structure of the curriculum period you started in until the end of the transition period. Teaching is always organized according to the current curriculum. Correspondence tables show how the study sections and study units of different curriculum periods correspond to each other, if there have been any changes to them. Each degree programme has its own correspondence table.
