TRANSFLIGHT Business Air Travel in Context of Climate Change: Empirical Findings from a Research Project

The House of Wisdom Coffee Conversations are open events where we learn and discuss about different topics related to planetary well-being, sustainability and responsibility. Every time, we hear a presentation from someone working with these themes, and there is room for discussion in the relaxed atmosphere of the House of Wisdom. This month, our presenter is Romana Rauter, an Associate Professor on Sustainability and Innovation Management at University of Graz, Austria and a JYU Visiting Fellow in the spring of 2024.

In order to achieve the climate targets, all areas of life and sectors must reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The mobility sector is facing particularly great challenges due to rising emissions figures. First and foremost is air travel. The interdisciplinary project is looking at how the future of air travel can be changed and how we can break out of emission-intensive systems in three different domains: leisure, business and academic air travel. Insights from the project with particular focus on business air travel will be presented and discussed during this Wisdom Coffee Conversation.

You are warmly welcome to listen and discuss on the project. We encourage you to take a moment away from your desk and participate on-site at the House of Wisdom (officially known as the Gardener's House, J-building), where coffee and tea will be served. However, remote participation is also possible.

To join the event remotely, use the link below. In addition, use your own name as you join to be let in from the waiting room.
