Development across lifespan
Developmental neuroscience has a long history in Jyväskylä, the longest ongoing longitudinal studies having begun in the '90s.
Development and aging influence brain functions. We study the development of the nervous system throughout the lifespan using state-of-the-art technology. Multiple longitudinal studies are being conducted in Jyväskylä, the earliest of which dates back to the '90s. In this particular project, we have studied people with a familial risk of dyslexia since their infancy. At the time of writing, we have begun collecting data from infants to study the development of mathematical skills. We also study the aging brain.
