FatigEEG - The effect of fatigue on attentional focus and regulation
Physical and psychological stress affect an individual's physiology and performance. Understanding the effects of stress and predicting the associated risks is important, for instance, in military contexts.

Project description
In a project conducted in collaboration with the Finnish National Defence University, Turku University of Applied Sciences, and the University of Turku, the effects of physical and psychological stress induced by demanding combat training exercises on an individual's physiology, as well as on attention maintenance and regulation, are investigated. The study measures the effects of fatigue on perceived state, brain activity, heart rate and it's variability, hormone levels, and performance in a VR driving simulator task. Additionally, it examines how individual background factors, such as physical fitness and the 'recovery capacity' of the autonomic nervous system, influence the accumulation of fatigue and its effects.
