Partnership turns research into action

The university produces knowledge and competences. Research-based knowledge and its implementation are key to achieving growth, sustainability, well-being, and technological development.
In the Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥'s strategy, RDI collaboration is marked a key means of achieving these goals. Together with our partners, we strive to renew society and business by combining knowledge, expertise, and perspectives from different fields.
Easy access to expertise
We have developed an approach, unique in the Finnish university sector, that makes university RDI, continuous learning, and degree education easily accessible to businesses.
Our new approach brings the expertise of the university community to businesses and organisations in a way that's more accessible than before.
A top researcher, a team of experts, or even a trainer with in-depth knowledge of a company's challenges can be the key to finding the right solutions and focusing on the relevant issues. Our new approach brings the expertise of the university community to businesses and organisations in a way that's more accessible than before.
The Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥ created a new Vice-Rector position specifically to develop societal interaction and partnerships. Pasi Raiskinmäki will lead the university's links with industry and promote the agile integration of further education and RDI in the university's activities.
Research-based knowledge has a strong foundation
JYU has long been a strong research operative both in its own region and internationally. The volume of research carried out with external, competitive funding alone is around €80 million annually. This funding consists of national and international funding.
The Ministry of Education and Culture tracks the impact of universities and also guides the universities through funding. High quality and measurable results are the basis of our funding and also of our strategy.
In addition to education, the university's impact is also realised through research, through projects combining the expertise of different organisations, various RDI projects and, for example, thesis placements and internships. An educated people exhibits insightful, responsible, knowledge-based thinking in all aspects of life.
Learning is part of working life
Businesses and other organisations need a skilled workforce. Individuals seek opportunities to update and expand their skills throughout their careers. Flexible learning serves all parties.
The Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥ is trusted – we are the most popular university for continuous learning in Finland. Last year, almost 29,000 students studied at JYU Open University. This trust is also the result of active development: JYUOpen courses can be studied in ways that are perfectly suited to the needs of people in working life.
The Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥ listens to its partners, tailoring competence development services to meet the needs of society and businesses.
