
Rector’s starting grant for new associate/assistant professors and professors
To whom the starting grant can be awarded
Based on an application, the funding is awarded to recently hired professors with a permanent employment contract with the University and to tenure track Associate/Assistant Professors whose duration of employment is at least 3 years. The starting grant is not awarded to a person who has already been awarded starting grant.
The amount of the starting grant
The maximum starting grant is EUR 60,000. The evaluation of applications takes into account the necessity of the starting grant for the efficient start of research activities, which must be justified in the application.
The use of starting grant
The use of starting grant must begin no later than 6 months after the start of the professorship, and the funding must be used within 2 years of the start of its use.

How to apply
A unit, which has recruited, applies for the starting grant within 3 months of the start of the professorship by filling in and informs the dean of the faculty. The application must describe the plan for using the starting grant and how the starting grant facilitates efficient start of research activities.
Decision on the starting grants
The Vice Rector responsible for research decides on the starting grant within the limits of the resources available to the Research Council. When considering the decision, the Vice Rector responsible for research takes into account the impact of the starting grant, the plan for using the starting grant and the amount of external research funding granted to the recruited Professor or Assistant/Associate Professor.
Decisions shall be brought to the Research Council for information.
