Developing teachers' skills

The Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥â€™s long tradition of teaching and teaching development is still evident.

Starting points

The development of teachers' pedagogical skills encompasses a wide range of different areas. Skills related to the planning and implementation of teaching and education, university pedagogical skills, guidance skills and teaching planning skills are at the centre, and they are supported by a range of pedagogical training courses. Special themes, such as digital pedagogical skills, are supported both through training and education development models.

In pedagogical training, research-based approaches to the implementation and development of teaching are supported. This is also reflected in the education development strategy. The starting points crystallise around two key principles: connectivity, meaning the connection between teaching and research, and societal interaction, as well as learner-centeredness.

The pedagogical studies offered include the possibility of further education up to pedagogical qualification. This consists of a set of university pedagogical studies and Pedagogical intermediate studies in adult education. Some pedagogical training is also offered in English, as well as in smaller modules to support the updating of teachers' skills.

The accumulation of knowledge is supported in a variety of ways, such as through development activities, peer networking activities in teaching development and teaching research periods designed for teachers. The Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥ requires those selected for teaching positions to complete 10 credits of pedagogical studies within two years of starting their employment if those studies have not yet been completed.
