RADMEP Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s Degree Programme is a multidisciplinary and innovative programme covering the interactions between Radiation and MicroElectronics and Photonics, two key enabling technologies for the future of Europe. Admission criteria

Eligibility criteria

Eligible applicants to the Master’s degree programme must hold a bachelor of science (or any nationally recognized first cycle degree equivalent to 180 ECTS), preferably in the fields of Physical Engineering, Physics or a similar topic. The first cycle degree must give eligibility to Master’s degree programmes in the country where the degree was completed.

The higher education institution awarding the degree has to be a recognised part of the official national education system of the country, i.e. to be listed as a degree-granting higher education institution by the country where it is located or by a relevant international organisation (such as UNESCO).

The degree used for proving eligibility may be unfinished at the time of application, in which case the applicant can be conditionally selected. In such a case, the degree must be completed by the time of enrolment.

Proficiency in the English language demonstrated in one or several of the following ways:

- TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) with a minimum score of 90 points on the internet based test

- IELTS (International English Language Testing Service) with a minimum overall band score of 6.5.

- any English language test scores with information on the CEFR correspondence (adequate reference table of level between standardized tests must be provided in the website)

- certificate that English was the tuition language of the applicant’s first degree

- mention in the applicant cover letter that English is the one of/the official language of your country of residence

Level of English will be assessed on the basis of test scores provided by the applicant, the cover letter and the interview.

Admissions procedure

The selection of students will be managed with an electronic application form available on the . The admission procedure from the application phase through to the official selection phase will also be described on the website. Applicants must create an account on the online application platform prior to uploading application documentation. Application details and attached documentation can be modified by the applicant until the application deadline.

Complete eligible applications are first pre-evaluated according to the joint selection criteria and scoring table as indicated below:

This pre-evaluation is scored on a scale of 5 (5=Excellent, 4=Very good, 3=Good, 2=Satisfactory, 1=Sufficient, 0=Insufficient).

All applications above the threshold of 3.5 out of 5 of the pre-evaluation score are moderated using the same criteria and weighting system.All applications above the threshold of 3.5 out of 5 of both the pre-evaluation score and the moderation score are short-listed.

Short-listed applicants are interviewed. The applicants’ performance is scored on a scale of 5 (5=Excellent, 4=Very good, 3=Good, 2=Satisfactory, 1=Sufficient, 0=Insufficient), along with qualitative comments on the applicant performance.

Non short-listed applicants will be notified of the outcome two (2) months after the end of the Call for Application at the latest. They will receive a personal feedback and the procedure to follow for an appeal to the selection decision.

The final selection is agreed during an Academic and Management Board by full consensus of the four (4) Local Academic Coordinators on the basis of pre-evaluation, moderation and interview grades. Selection outcome and final rank is not based only on the averaged grade, but reflect the discussion and agreement of the Academic and Management Board.

Final selection lists, including absolute ranking in decreasing order of merit, will be published on the programme website two (2) months after the end of the Call for Application at the latest. All applicants will be notified by email.

Selected applicants must send their paper original application file to the coordination institution by registered post by June. All official documents (transcripts, diplomas) will be checked to see if they comply with all host universities registration policies.

Attachments

Applicants are requested to upload following documents, in English and pdf format:

a) a CV in Europass format;

b) LinkedIn® public webpage (not compulsory);

c) a cover letter (a motivation letter), of no more than 1000 words that should mainly demonstrate consistency between applicant’s academic and professional background, the Programme and the applicant’s professional project. The cover letter should state as well the referred choice of concentration for semester 3 (even if this choice can be modified during the first year, as laid down in the Student Agreement); clearly indicate if the applicant is relying on EMJMD scholarship or other scholarships to finance her/his study and clearly declare if they applicant have or have not benefited from an Erasmus Mundus Master Course grant in the past;

d) a proof of nationality: scan of applicant passport, or if the applicant doesn’t have a passport yet the national ID;

e) proof of place of residence (residence certificate and certificate from the applicant place of work, study or training);

f) a scan of the applicant’s birth certificate, preferably translated in English;

g) a scan of original diploma from university education in the original language, the list of subjects taken and grades received from the university education in the original language, the Diploma Supplement if applicable AND authorized English translation of the diploma and subject take and grades received (if the applicant hasn’t completed the first degree yet, she/he must send available transcripts);

h) at least 2 academic AND/OR professional recommendation letters (including contact details of referees). These letters are the only documents that can be sent directly to the Programme Academic Coordinator if the referees wish so;

i) any English language test scores with CEFR correspondence self-assessment (adequate reference table of level between standardized tests must be provided in the website), AND/OR certificate that English was the tuition language of the applicant’s first degree OR mention in the applicant cover letter that English is the one of/the official language of your country of residence;

j) Research papers / projects portfolio if any.

In addition, personal details, additional self-assessment and motivation statements are requested during the application process.
