Eligibility criteria
Educational background
To be eligible, you must have completed one of the following qualifications. You are also eligible to apply if you will complete your qualification by the given deadline.
- Finnish matriculation examination
- International Baccalaureate (IB)
- European Baccalaureate (EB)
- Deutsche Internationale Abiturprüfung (DIA) or Reifeprüfung (RP) in Finland
- Finnish vocational upper secondary qualification, further vocational qualification or specialist vocational qualification as set in the Vocational Education Act (531/2017)
- Upper secondary education (general or vocational) completed outside Finland that gives eligibility for bachelor’s-level degree studies in the awarding country
- Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE)
You are also eligible to apply if you have been granted one of the following:
- a right to study toward a university degree in Finland
- a degree by a Finnish higher education institution
- a bachelor’s degree or higher by a foreign institution
If you currently hold a study right leading to the Bachelor of Science in Business and Economics at the Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥, you cannot be admitted.
Language requirements
- Finnish matriculation examination with a minimum grade of magna cum laude approbatur (M) in English language in advanced syllabus
- International Baccalaureate (IB)
- successfully completed IB diploma in English; OR
- successfully completed A Level English (literature/language and literature/literature and performance); OR
- a minimum score of 5 (good) in B Level English
- European Baccalaureate (EB)
- successfully completed L1 in English; OR
- a minimum score of 7 ar L2 or L3
- Deutsche Internationale Abiturprüfung (DIA) or Reifeprüfung (RP) in Finland
- successfully completed written A Level English; OR
- a minimum score of 8 in oral A Level English
- IELTS Academic, IELTS for UKVI Academic, IELTS Indicator, or IELTS Online: 6.0
- TOEFL iBT, TOEFL iBT Home Edition, or TOEFL iBT Paper Edition: 78
- PTE Academic, PTE Academic UKVI, or PTE Academic Online: 54
- Cambridge C2 Proficiency: C1
- Cambridge C1 Advanced: C
- National Certificate of Language Proficiency (YKI) in English: You must have received a grade of 4 or higher at the intermediate level in all components (speaking, writing, listening comprehension, and reading comprehension). Advanced tests and skill levels 5 and 6 are accepted as well. You may combine test results from multiple dates. Only YKI tests completed in 2002 and thereafter are accepted.
- Upper secondary education completed in English in an EU/EAA country, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Switzerland, the United Kingdom or the United States.
- A higher education degree completed in English in an EU/EEA country or one of the following: Australia, Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Botswana, Cameroon, Canada, Dominica, Eritrea, Eswatini, Ethiopia, Gambia, Ghana, Grenada, Guyana, Hong Kong, India, Jamaica, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Malawi, Namibia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Philippines, Rwanda, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Sierra Leone, Singapore, South Africa, Switzerland, Tanzania, Trinidad and Tobago, Uganda, United Kingdom, United States, Zambia, Zimbabwe.
- SAT: a minimum total score of 1100 for the Evidence-based Reading and Writing and Mathematics sections.
Selection criteria description
These admission criteria are valid for student selections made in 2025. The admission criteria and number of study seats is decided on an annual basis and will be published on Studyinfo.fi before each application round.

Admissions procedure
Admission group 1
You are eligible to apply in Admission Group 1 if you have completed or will complete during spring 2025 one of the following qualifications:
- Finnish matriculation examination
- International Baccalaureate (IB) in or outside Finland
- European Baccalaureate (EB) in or outside Finland
- Deutsche Internationale Abiturprüfung (DIA) or Reifeprüfung (RP) in Finland
In Admission Group 1, admission is based on the grades obtained in one of these qualifications.
You are eligible in this selection group only if you have passed the mathematics degree (basic or advanced) in Finnish matriculation examination or an equivalent IB, EB or DIA/RP degree.
You can score points for up to five subjects, which are:
- mother tongue
- mathematics (advanced or basic syllabus)
- the language for which the applicant receives the highest points
- the two subjects for which the applicant receives the highest points
The maximum score is 154.0.
In the tables below, you can see how many points you get for the different grades of each matriculation exam. The grades in the tables (L, E, M, C, B and A) are grades for the Finnish matriculation examination.
In the correspondence tables of the IB-, EB-, RP- ja DIA degrees, you can see which of the grades are comparable to the Finnish matriculation examination grades.

Admission group 2
In Admission Group 2, admission is based on SAT results. 10 % of the study places are reserved for this admission group.
In Admission Group 2 only applicants who have completed or will complete in spring 2025 some of the following degrees may be admitted: a Finnish matriculation examination and Finnish upper secondary school or the equivalent curriculum, or the European Baccalaureate or International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme or the ReifePrüfung/DIA (Deutsche Internationale Abitur) and the upper secondary school of the equivalent curriculum.
The SAT test cannot have been completed more than two years prior to the end of the application period.
To be considered for admission, you must have achieved the minimum combined score of 1100 in the following sections: Evidence-based Reading and Writing and Mathematics. If you have completed multiple tests, the highest score will be considered. As there are a limited amount of study places available, achieving a minimum score does not automatically result in getting admitted.
Applicants are ranked according to their combined scores, and the highest-scoring applicants are admitted in accordance with the available study places. In case two or more applicants share the same combined score, the applicant with the highest score in Evidence-based Reading and Writing will be admitted. In case the applicants are still tied afterwards, all of them will be admitted.
Admission group 3
If you have not completed and will not complete by the given deadline Finnish matriculation examination, an IB or EB, or a Finnish DIA or RP, you must apply in Admission Group 3.
In Admission Group 3, admission is based on SAT results. 40 % of the study places are reserved for this admission group.
The SAT test cannot have been completed more than two years prior to the end of the application period.
To be considered for admission, you must have achieved the minimum combined score of 1100 in the following sections: Evidence-based Reading and Writing and Mathematics. If you have completed multiple tests, the highest score will be considered. As there are a limited amount of study places available, achieving a minimum score does not automatically result in getting admitted.
