
README files for research data
A README file describing and documenting its content should always be found at the link of the research data. On this page you will find a few examples of documenting research data using a README file.
The README file should briefly describe the general basic metadata of the dataset (name of the project, authors, owner of the dataset, link to the metadata published in JYX), describe the folder structure and naming practices for files and folders. If it is convenient to describe other documentation related to the use of the dataset in the same file, that is also possible.
README files should be organized logically, using necessary subheadings and using language that can be generally understood by researchers without other context information about the field or the project.
