Project description

In this research and development project we ask: What kind of trauma experiences women with criminal backgrounds have and how could the service system better respond to them?

The aim for this project is to

1) study the connection of trauma experiences to the service needs of women with criminal background,

2) examine and analyze current social work and other welfare services and practices for these women regarding substance use, health social work, social work with adults, housing social work and employment services, and

3) develop and pilot a women specific service model that would recognize their traumatic experiences, systematize the preparation for women's release from prison, and contribute to the successful integration into society.
