Project description
In this research and development project we ask: What kind of trauma experiences women with criminal backgrounds have and how could the service system better respond to them?
The aim for this project is to
1) study the connection of trauma experiences to the service needs of women with criminal background,
2) examine and analyze current social work and other welfare services and practices for these women regarding substance use, health social work, social work with adults, housing social work and employment services, and
3) develop and pilot a women specific service model that would recognize their traumatic experiences, systematize the preparation for women's release from prison, and contribute to the successful integration into society.
The Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥, Department of Social Sciences and Philosophy, Social Work, is responsible for this project, in co-operation with the Department of Social Research, University of Turku, the Department of Law of the University of Eastern Finland, and the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Helsinki.
The project is funded by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health.
