Project description

Through the OKE (Special assigment for Competence Development) program JYU-Vuokatti have focused on advancing sports technology solutions that support coaching and athlete development.

In the 2025 OKE application, we will prioritize the systematic use of sports technology across all disciplines in the OVK Vuokatti-Ruka environment. The planned measures directly contribute to:

  1. The national Sports Data Strategy
  2. The development of elite athletes’ performance capacity

All actions are based on ongoing dialogue with national sports federations and align with key development initiatives, including the KUHA data analytics program, ski service development projects, the HULK high-performance and business development project, and the CEMIS program.

The plan consists of two main work packages:

  • WP1: Updating and integrating discipline-specific competition analyses into the Coachtech system and the UDS data platform, as well as expanding GPS and test data interfaces to new disciplines.
  • WP2: Strengthening daily coaching with advanced measurement technologies (e.g., instrumented roller skis, motion analysis, biathlon shooting diagnostics) and visualizing results in the Coachtech system. The work will be supported by a full-time biomechanic and technical development staff.

These actions ensure Vuokatti-Ruka’s position as a leading environment for data-driven athlete development and coaching innovation.
