Project description

The main objective of the research project "From the Fog of War" is to form a complete picture of the work of Finnish war correspondents, photographers and their fixers in the 2014-2024 Russo-Ukrainian war through in-depth interviews. The study will provide new information about the working practices and limits of war journalism during the last ten years. Key thematic areas include the impact of new communication technologies and social media platforms on war journalism, work-life balance as well as safety, emotions and the ethics of war journalism.

The research is carried out in cooperation between the Department of Language and Communication Sciences and the Department of History and Ethnology of the Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥. The research project has a budget of €160,000 and will be carried out over two years in 2023-25.
