Simon Walker
Biography
I am currently an Academy Research Fellow until 2027 at which time I will revert to my position as Senior Lecturer in Exercise Physiology. I hold positions of responsibility in the Faculty Council, as well as the NeuroMuscular Research Center, and externally as a scientific editor for peer-review journals.
Research interests
My main research interests focus on neuromuscular responses and adaptations to resistance training and aging, with a particular emphasis on neural control of force production during recent years. I am also part of a research group "Sensorimotor Systems Neuroscience" that more broadly investigates neural control and consequences of movement; with my area of specialty centered on balance control. Additionally, I have studied other "classical aspects" of exercise physiology, including cardiorespiratory fitness, body composition and metabolism, and hormonal and immunological functioning.
