Biography

MSCA Postdoctoral Fellow Maarja Merivoo-Parro has set out to discover the nature of the seemingly spontaneous humanitarian aid from Finns to Estonians at the end of the 1980s and early 1990s when Estonia was making headway in emerging from under Soviet occupation.

Research interests

I aim to unearth the untold history of cross-border spontaneous humanitarian aid from Finns to Estonians in the pivotal years from the collapse of Soviet rule to Estonia's re-establishment as an independent country. This research will provide insight into the impact of citizens' personal choices from shaping individual lives to reinforcing democratic and socio-economic development.
