Postdoctoral researcher
I have specialized in early childhood education and care (ECEC) and especially extended hours ECEC. (In Finland we have publicly funded ECEC centres that operate from early mornings till late evenings or 24/7!)
I teach qualitative research methods and supervise thesis on bachelor, master and PhD levels at the Department of Education.
I train ECEC practitioners in in-service trainings on topics such as equality and participation, pedagogy, planning and implementation of pedagogical activities, teamwork, as well as leadership and shared leadership.
Research interests
My research interests focus on
- parents' non-standard working hours and their childcare and early childhood education and care (ECEC) decisions
- children's use of and transitions between formal and informal childcare settings
- extended hours/flexibly scheduled ECEC (pedagogy, teamwork, educational partnership)
- relational expertise and professional agency of ECEC practitioners
