Lumivalo's current research interests include digital and cyber-physical service use, value co-creation/destruction, service-dominant logic, technology as an actor, continuous service innovation, and development and use of sustainable information systems. Her research explores ways to solve real live problems such as how service users may derive more value in service use and how service providers may facilitate environmental and societal sustainability through employing emerging technologies. She supervises Master's theses especially in areas in the intersection of information systems and service research, such as digitalization of services, digital transformation, and digital service design.
Lumivalo received her doctoral degree in Information Systems at the Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥ in 2020. She was a doctoral fellow at the Doctoral Consortiums of the International Conference on Information Systems and the European Conference on Information Systems. She has received external funding from the Paulo Foundation, the Nokia Foundation and the Foundation for Economic Education in Finland, and several internal grants from the Faculty of Information Technology at the University of Jyväskylä. Lumivalo’s work has been published in peer-reviewed venues such as Journal of Service Research, Pacific Asia Journal of the Association for Information Systems, The International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS), European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS) and Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences (HICSS).
