Jonna Riikonen
Biography
I work at Movi as a university lecturer in written communication. I teach and supervise scientific writing, primarily to students at the School of Business, the Faculty of IT and the Faculty of Education. I am working on a PhD in Finnish language studies, researching university students' views on scientific writing.
I have previously worked as a journalist and as a teacher of mother tongue and literature in upper secondary schools. My experience in upper secondary education has been useful in developing, in cooperation with EduFutura, the Mind the Gap course, which takes place annually during the Central Finland Higher Education Week. In a working group we have developed electronic teaching materials for upper secondary schools for both Finnish language and literature and Finnish as a second language. As an assistant member of the Matriculation Examination Board, I have the opportunity to study the writing skills of upper secondary school students every year.
I have a broad interest in writing in different contexts. My debut nonfiction book was published in 2022 and I have supplemented my knowledge with studies in writing and special education at the Open University.
