
Jari-Mikko Meriläinen
Biography
Jari-Mikko Meriläinen is Senior Lecturer in economics in the Jyväskylä University School of Business and Economics. He has a PhD in economics and specializes in empirical research, with a focus on financial stability. Currently, he has published four essays on financial stability and banking regulation in prestigious journals. In addition, he has published two studies that examine hate speech targeting politicians on Twitter. Jari-Mikko actively participates in teaching and thesis supervision.
Research interests
My publications have shed light on the role of the cooperative and savings bank sector in the Western European banking systems. In addition, I have published a study examining the effect of asset liquidity on bank stability. I wrote this study together with Professor Juha Junttila. I continue studying banking regulation and financial stability. Besides these, I have published a study focusing on hate speech targeting Finnish politicians in Twitter. I also continue this branch of research.
