Research interests

I study the drivers and impacts of environmental change in aquatic systems, using both modern limnological methods and paleolimnological sediment archives that reach some thousands of years back in time. Much of my research focuses on Arctic lakes that are highly vulnerable to climate change, but I also work in the boreal environment, where lakes face multiple stressors due to human actions.

Daphnia ephippia as time capsules – using dormant eggs to detect browning-induced shifts in lake biogeochemistry (Hippicap)

The aim of the Hippicap project is to use multiple proxies in sediment core studies to show how browning has changed – and is still changing - the structure and function of small lakes.
