I work at Movi, the Centre for Multilingual Academic Communication, as a university teacher of written communication in Finnish. I teach academic writing skills, multilingual interaction and research communication especially to students of the Department of Language and Communication Studies and the Faculty of Information Technology. In teaching, I am fascinated by guiding and involving students as part of the university community, its operating practices and text genres.
I am a Finnish language and literature teacher (MA in Finnish language), and I have taught pedagogy and didactics in the same field at a Department of Teacher Education. With my previous jobs as a journalist, I have specialized in journalistic writing and editing, and I constantly dig deeper in the field of journalism to expand my understanding of it. During several curriculum periods, I have created and developed journalism students' communication and language studies (21–26 ECTS), including the multilingual sections together with my planning team.
My areas of responsibility in the written communication subject group are teaching the initial phase of studies, practical use of Finnish, journalistic writing courses, and writing support courses. I'm happy to answer questions about them via email and face-to-face.
Regarding research themes, I am especially inspired by multilingual pedagogy and everything related to journalistic writing. The clarity, fluency and thoroughness of texts are of great interest to me in different areas of my life.
