Biography

I work as professor of Modern Finnish. At the moment I am also Deputy Head of the Department of Language and Communication Studies, responsible for research, innovation and doctoral studies.

Research interests

My research is concerned with workplace interaction. I have investigated face-to-interaction in, for example, meetings, workshops and appraisal interviews. At the moment, I am especially interested in how face-to-face interaction and digital platforms are intertwined in workplace practices. With my research group, I have approached this issue through the concept of multimediality.

In addition, I have conducted research on interactional encounters in the context of healthcare, as well as religious communities.
