Research interests
My research focuses on the themes of educational leadership. In my dissertation research, I examine the values that underpin decision-making in early childhood education. With quality ECE at the heart of everything, I am particularly interested in the ethics of decision-making and how the best interest of the child is taken into account at different levels of leadership. At best, my research will provide transparent and up to date data on the current state of early childhood education in Finland, as well as tools for leadership development.
As a project researcher, I contribute to research in the Department of Psychology. In a research project funded by the Research Council of Finland, we focus on dyslexia, or reading difficulty, how it manifests in older people and how it relates to cognitive decline. We study aging-related factors such as general working memory processes and how deficits in verbal working memory from early brain development interact with age-related factors.
