Biography
I am a postdoctoral researcher working at the Centre of Excellence in Music, Mind, Body and Brain on the MUSICONNECT project in which I will develop a scale for measuring self- and social connectedness and empowerment with the aim of comparing between different forms of musical engagement and other activities that contribute to social-emotional development. My PhD at the University of Oslo's RITMO Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies in Rhtyhm, Time and Motion examined motion, emotion, and social connectedness at concerts and particularly how technological mediation can affect behaviour and experiences. My Master's in Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Toronto was at the intersection of music, motor learning, and exercise science in which I explored whether high-intensity interval training could enhance motor learning of a piano melody. My undergraduate at McMaster's Institute for Music and the Mind involved examining how liveness and fanship affect audience motion at a rock concert.
