Clemens Lindner
Biography
I am currently a doctoral student at the Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥, Finland. Before that, I completed my Bachelor's and Master's degrees at the University of Vienna, Austria. My focus has always been on theoretical physics, with a strong emphasis on foundational research, particularly in quantum physics and quantum information theory.
I believe that any deeper understanding should be pursued for its own sake. However, I also care deeply about the benefits science can offer to society. Before starting my PhD, I spent half a year at the European Commission's Joint Research Centre to explore how science and policymaking intersect in the real world.
Research interests
The research I am conducting at the faculty focuses on Quantum Machine Learning, where we explore how existing machine learning algorithms can be enhanced when implemented on quantum computers, as well as developing new algorithms tailored to the unique properties of quantum information. My primary interest lies in understanding if, and why, quantum computers could improve a system's learning capabilities.
