Grant researcher on research project "The other view on the forest: social history and landscape imagery of deforestation areas in Finland and Sweden, c. 1820−1920” (MetSuRi, funded by Kone Foundation).
In this project, I study, for example, the public debate on deforestation in Viipuri Province and Dalarna County in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
My other research topics include the social and cultural history of Karelia, the history of corruption and bad governance practices, and the history of interpersonal and state violence.
Tutkija Koneen Säätiön rahoittamassa hankkeessa "Metsäkuvan kääntöpuoli. Metsäkatoalueiden yhteiskuntahistoria ja maisemakuvasto Suomessa ja Ruotsissa noin 1820–1920" (MetSuRi)
Tutkin hankkeessa esimerkiksi Vanhan Suomen ajan loppuvaiheiden metsäpolitiikan vaikutuksia sekä Viipurin läänin ja Taalainmaan metsäkadosta käytyä julkista keskustelua 1800-luvulla ja 1900-luvun alussa.
Muita tutkimusteemojani ovat esimerkiksi Karjalan yhteiskunta- ja kulttuurihistoria, korruption ja huonon hallinnon historia sekä henkilökohtaisen ja valtiollisen väkivallan historia.
