The Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥ has updated its instructions related to coronavirus COVID-19:

The Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥ recommends all employees who have returned from an epidemic area to work remotely at home for five days. The remote work should be agreed with the supervisor and occupational health service should be consulted when necessary.

We also recommend a remote work period of five days before returning to the University if the employee has been in contact with a person (a family member) who has visited an epidemic area or there is a suspected coronavirus infection in the family.

The same five-day recommendation also applies to students. When necessary, please consult FSHS (YTHS).

The Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥ recommends the students to avoid travelling to epidemic areas. The necessity of all trips in the spring should be considered carefully. Currently, the epidemic area covers mainland China, Iran, South Korea and regions of Veneto, Lombardy, Piemonte and Emilio-Romagna in Italy. JYU has outlined that, for the time being, business trips to China must be cancelled or postponed. Also visits from China must be postponed.

Coronavirus epidemic also affects to Erasmus+ -mobility.

According to the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare, the risk for travellers to get a coronavirus is small. Good hand hygiene is the best way to protect against the virus. The Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare has published

When to suspect a coronavirus infection?

A coronavirus suspicion always requires:
1. A visit to the epidemic area or confirmed close contact with a coronavirus patient within 14 days before the start of the symptoms
and
2. High fever (over 38 degrees Celsius) and a respiratory infection with cough or shortness of breath.

What to do if you suspect a coronavirus infection

To minimise contacts, stay at home and phone your health centre (Monday–Friday during office hours) or the emergency clinic (outside office hours) without delay. You will receive further instructions by phone from the health care professional.

This way it is possible to estimate the situation and the risk of infection. If the symptoms and possible exposure support the diagnosis, the health centre physician will contact the central hospital for further instructions. This is important because persons with suspected coronavirus infections are directed to the isolation room of the emergency clinic in the Central Finland Central Hospital, not to usual public facilities.
