Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥â€™s guidelines for the 2023 Parliamentary elections
The following guidelines will be followed from the confirmation of the list of candidates until election day (2 March 2023–2 April 2023).
University as an event organiser
• The university may, at its discretion, organise election panels with a broad range of parties representing different perspectives. The university does not organise election events for a single candidate or party.
Principles for renting premises
• The university’s premises can be rented for election events in accordance with the university's normal rates for the rental of premises. Instructions and price lists for indoor and outdoor rentals can be found on the Salivaraussivusto - Jyväskylän yliopisto (jyu.fi)
Information
• University media channels will only cover election events that feature a comprehensive range of parties representing different perspectives. In such cases, it must also be made clear who is organising the event. No other political event, party or candidate advertising will be published in university media channels.
• No information about an individual candidate’s or party´s events is provided through the university's communication channels.
Advance voting is possible on the university campus from Wednesday, 22 March to Tuesday, 28 March 2023
• Advance voting will be held in Lähde, Seminaarinkatu 15, 40100 Jyväskylä. Voting is open:
o Wed–Fri 10–18
o Sat–Sun closed
o Mon–Thu 10-18
• During the voting period, it is prohibited to make speeches, publish or distribute printed or written solicitations or otherwise influence or attempt to influence the voters’ freedom to vote at or in the immediate vicinity of the advance polling station (Electoral Act 56§).
Other provisions
• University information systems are intended as a tool for tasks related to studying, teaching, research or administration at the university. The use of university-provided information systems (e.g. Zoom, Teams) for political activities (such as election advertising) is prohibited. More information
• Potential parliamentary candidates will continue to carry out their normal university-related duties and teaching activities as part of their work plans. Candidates may also appear in connection with their duties in the university's media channels, for example on the website.
• University staff is free to appear in private in connection with the campaigning of political parties and candidates for parliamentary elections, but they do not represent the university. Your title and academic title may be used with the name, but not the name of the Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥. The same applies to staff members who are themselves candidates for election.
