In compliance with the phases of the epidemic, there are specific face mask recommendations for the base level, acceleration phase and spreading phase. Each hospital district and municipality define the phase and recommendation they follow at the time.
The internal recommendation of the Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥ follows the recommendation in compliance with the epidemiological situation estimation of authorities. An extensive use of masks is strongly recommended because new infection chains have still come up as a continuum of the acceleration phase in the region. There has also been reported infection cases in the university community in September and October.
It is recommended to use a mask in the following situations:
- In contact teaching and situations in which people spend longer than 15 minutes in the same room. Teachers provide masks at the beginning of teaching. Students can use their own masks (e.g. a cloth mask or a disposable mask) so you do not need to change your mask to the one offered by JYU.
- In common indoor spaces at the university, especially when moving in crowded places (e.g. in front of teaching facilities, service desks, exits and cafeterias).
- In public spaces and events (like doctoral dissertions) where close contacts cannot always be avoided.
- In library and self-study areas.
- Internal meetings and meetings with interest groups are preferably held online. Only necessary events that require physical participation are organised on the campus. In these situations, the meetings are arranged (a) outdoors, (b) in sufficiently large facilities or (c) using protective masks. The opportunity for a remote connection should be offered for all meetings.
- On public transport where close contacts cannot always be avoided.
- Persons travelling to a COVID-19 testing facility and awaiting the test results, if it is necessary for them to move outside the home.
- Passengers arriving in Finland from a high-risk area while moving from the point of entry to the place of quarantine or if it is necessary to move outside the home during the quarantine.
You do not need to use a face mask in the following situations:
- When moving momentarily in uncrowded lobbies and corridors at the university.
- When moving outdoors.
