Towards an eco-social future!
The four-year international research and doctoral training project MCSA-ITN-ASTRA, coordinated by the Ģֱ, is nearing its end and will culminate in the final conference "Shaping an ecosocial future now!" The conference, held at ԲԳä쾱, focuses on highlighting the results of a sustainable transition in the application of multidisciplinary research to social work.
The conference will be held in English due to the internationally wide range of speakers and participants.
The conference’s international keynote speakers
The international keynote speakers at the conference highlighted topical aspects of sustainable transition and social inclusion.
Here are the things that the three keynote speakers wanted to highlight.
“This has been a great experience to connect with PhD students and academic researchers from different parts of the world. The experience has offered a space for dialogue, criticism and constructing different views on what an ecosocial future looks like, especially for social work.” Professor Giannina Muñoz Arce from the University of Chile addressed the topic "Decolonisation of Social Work Research and Knowledge".
“I am delighted to be here and talk about integrating social end ecological goals to build a sustainable and ecosocial ɴǰ.” Dirk Holemans of the Green European Foundation spoke on "A Good Life for All on a Healthy Planet".
“I am happy to present my work on Kurdish and Palestinian diasporas and talk about statelessness and bring awareness to the issue in the setting of Nordic social sciences.” Docent BarzooEliassi from Linnaeus University in Sweden focused on the topic "Statelessness as Ethical Loneliness in the World of Uneven Nation-States".
Workshops - Concrete steps towards an eco-socially sustainable transition
Conference participants will have the opportunity to develop concrete steps for an eco-socially sustainable transition in interactive workshops. Thursday's workshops focused on European doctoral education in sustainable transitions and the challenges of sustainable development in higher education. On Friday, participants will have the opportunity to delve into community-based participatory research, migration paradox in sustainable development, economic democratisation of social work and advancing ecosocial work.
The conference "Shaping an ecosocial future now!" will end on Saturday with a walking tour of architecture and Alvar Aalto's life's work.
