Sports and health sciences were now evaluated for the third time, and Jyväskylä reached the position 51–100. Physics was ranked 351–400. Psychology returned to the list with position 251–300, and humanities and natural sciences with positions 451–500.

"We are happy that JYU succeeds excellently in education, a traditional strong area of the University, and in sport and health sciences in which we have the only faculty of its kind in Finland. Also the rise of psychology, humanities and natural sciences in the ranking speaks for our international level of excellence throughout the university,” says Vice Rector Marja-Leena Laakso.

QS World University Rankings by Subject evaluates universities in 48 distinct disciplines. The ranking is based on the following indicators: academic reputation, employer reputation and citations per paper as well as the productivity and impact of the published work of scientists or scholars. The ranking included 1,222 best universities from 151 countries.

“QS differs from other rankings in that the international visibility and reputation of the University has a significant importance through academic peer evaluations and employer evaluations,” says Laakso.

In the World University Ranking of 2018, QS ranked the Ģֱ in the position 336. The results of 2019 will be published in June.
