New chatbot will be launched for the JYU’s website – participate in the name competition!

The Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥ will launch a chatbot for students in October. The chatbot is a conversational AI-based customer server designed to provide help and guidance to students. We are now looking for a name for the chatbot - tell us your idea!

The aim of the chatbot is to make it easier for students seeking advice and support and to increase access to guidance. The chatbot will be able to answer general questions and, if necessary, direct students to the right staff member. The chatbot will also answer students' questions during evenings and weekends when staff are not available.

First the chatbot will be piloted in student services, where the bot will be trained to answer typical student questions. Later on, the chatbot will also be introduced in other university services. In the pilot phase, the chatbot will only be available in Finnish, but in the future it will serve not only students but also the university staff, in both Finnish and English.

The chabot's avatar, or virtual character, will be designed when the name is chosen. It could be for example an animal or other figure! The personality of the chatbot is similar to that of the staff of the Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥: a helpful and professional expert.

Take part in the name competition!

The chatbot is still missing a name, and you can now suggest one in the name competition! Please also suggest a character to go with the name. The winning name will be rewarded with a Semma’s goody bag and there will be a raffle among all participants of the name contest with product prizes offered by the University Shop Soppi. The competition is open from 9 to 19 September.

Please note that the chatbot will be available in both English and Finnish, so please take this into account when suggesting a name. The name should be appropriate for our university, and easy to remember.

Thank you for your participation and good luck!
