JYU.Well's summerteam introduces themselves

The JYU.Well community is getting a boost a team of ten trainees from various disciplines! Their aim is to make the results, ideas and people in wellbeing research more visible.

JYU.Well summerteam 

JYU.Well has a effective and impactful summerteam that consists of 10 interns from various disciplines!  

Our multidisciplinary team will work between May and September to promote the visibility and impact of wellbeing research. During the summer, we will have the opportunity to work on a variety of tasks, such as social media campaigns, updating the content of websites and promoting wellbeing research. The aim of our work is to bring results, ideas and people to the fore. You can find us at the Opinkivi 

Members of the team

Anna Pohjola 

  • Field of study: English. 
  • How I view well-being: I see well-being as a holistic package, but I am particularly interested in mental health issues.  
  • What I like to do in my spare time: play board games and listen to podcasts. 
  • Fact about me: I knit one pair of wool socks every autumn. 

Aijaleena Kilpinen 

  • Field of study: I study ethnology, anthropology and cultural policy at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.   
  • How I view well-being: I know that using artistic methods can improve mind, health and physical fitness, which all contribute to a person's experience of well-being. 
  • What I like to do in my spare time: in my free time I like to do anything cultural and outdoors.  
  • Fact about me: I think a lot and then sometimes not at all. People close to me wonder how I've survived this long, because I usually get into interesting situations. Maybe because of the incidents, I don't really get flustered by anything and rarely feel embarrassed either. 

Ida Rautiainen 

  • Field of study: Psychology of Physical Activity, Health and Well-being. 
  • How I view well-being: I prefer to look at human well-being as a psycho-physical-social whole, with an emphasis on both mental and physical health. 
  • What I like to do in my spare time: I do a lot of physical activity, both running in nature and going to the gym, including classes. I love hanging out with family and friends, dancing and reading. 
  • Fact about me: I have lived in six different countries and have at least three different languages running through my head at all times. 

 

Iida Akselin 

  • Field of study: Health sciences. 
  • How I view well-being: In my master’s programme, I have looked at well-being from many perspectives, but I am most interested in mental well-being and preventive mental health work. 
  • What I like to do in my spare time: In my free time I like to exercise, cook, paint, create content for social media and make second hand finds. 
  • Fact about me: My summer goal is to try 10 new ice cream flavours. 

 

Jenika Uusipaavalniemi 

  • Field of study: Communication Management, Business Studies. 
  • How I view well-being: I have a very broad interest in well-being. In particular, I am interested in the impact of sport and exercise, culture and general life management on individual well-being. 
  • What I like to do in my spare time: I play Finnish baseball, so I do a lot of sport and exercise. I also like to try new things, enjoy culture and spend time with family and friends. 
  • Fact about me: I'm quite competitive and I like all different kinds of games. 

Joona Luotonen 

  • Field of study: Physical education. 
  • How I view well-being: In particular, I look at well-being from the perspective of positive psychology and human prosperity. 
  • What I like to do in my spare time: I train and compete actively in athletics, so most of my free time is spent largely at Harju Stadium or the Hippos Athletics Hall. Otherwise, I spend my free time with friends and loved ones. 
  • Fact about me: I am an avid morning swimmer and can also skin a rabbit. 

 

Nelli Ratilainen 

  • Field of study: Social policy. 
  • How I view well-being: I have a broad fascination with the diversity of well-being, but I am particularly interested in social well-being, inclusion, and the environment as part of well-being. 
  • What I like to do in my spare time: I like to pet my dog, read books, do arts and crafts, thrift and spend quality time with loved ones. 
  • Fact about me: I love good chips! 

 

Oona Lehtonen 

  • Field of study: Exercise physiology. 
  • How I view well-being: Especially from a physical point of view, but also from a psychological point of view. 
  • What I like to do in my spare time: I do a wide variety of physical activities, read books and knit. 
  • Fact about me: I like to solve crosswords. 

 

Sofia Heiskanen 

  • Field of study: Social policy, social sciences. 
  • How I view well-being: I have a broad interest in well-being, but I am particularly interested in social and cultural well-being. The themes of education, equality and sustainability are particularly close to my own heart. 
  • What I like to do in my spare time: Especially in the summer, I like to go on picnics with my friends and try out new cafés or food recipes, for example. I also like to go to flea markets and pet my 6-year-old rescue cat.   
  • Fact about me: I have won a karaoke competition with my friends with the song "Tuulet puhaltaa". 

 

Teemu Ruohonen 

  • Field of study: Digital Marketing & Corporate Communicaton. 
  • How I view well-being: My perspective on well-being is mental health and the importance of verbal communication in maintaining relationships. 
  • What I like to do in my spare time: Board games, podcasts, picnics and friends. 
  • Fact about me: My favourite animal is a penguin.
