JYU’s research in education ranked 44th in the Shanghai Ranking.

JYU’s research in education ranked 44th in the Shanghai Global Ranking of Academic Subjects published on Tuesday 19 July 2022. This ranking places JYU as the best Finnish, best Nordic, and seventh best European higher education institution.
JYU was also successful in the discipline of Library & Information Science. It ranked second among the Finnish universities and was placed 51-75. In the ranking, Library & Information Science is part of the scientific discipline of Social Sciences. This includes a group of disciplines of social sciences at the Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥.
Altogether, 13 branches of science from JYU were included in global top 500. Communication was placed 101–150 and Mathematics 151-200. Biology, Ecology, Chemistry, Psychology, and Sport (Sport included in the Hospitality and Tourism Management) ranked 201–300. Physics, Management, Computer Science & Engineering, Clinical Medicine (at JYU Gerontology), and Public Health ranked 401–500.
The ranking included over 5,000 universities. It considered, for example, the quality of research, international cooperation, publications in top journals, and significant academic awards.
