Get ready to apply to doctoral programmes at JYU
The application period of spring 2025 opens on 1 April 2025 and the deadline for applications is 30 April 2025. The doctoral study right of accepted applicants starts in August 2025. The next application period will take place in September 2025.
Whether you apply this spring or next autumn, it's a good idea to start preparing well in advance. Applicants are advised to familiarize themselves with the eligibility requirements, admission criteria and application guidelines before the beginning of the application period.
In addition to the application form, you will need to submit attachments, for example, a research plan and a doctoral study plan. Moreover, you must contact the specialisation representative or potential supervisor at the Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥ to arrange supervision for a doctoral dissertation. In summary, the main steps in applying for doctoral studies are:

18 different doctoral programmes
Around 200 new students are accepted into the Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥ doctoral programmes every year. The Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥ offers 18 doctoral programmes. Depending on the doctoral programme and specialisation option it is possible to pursue a doctoral degree in philosophy, education, economics and business administration, sport sciences, psychology, technology, health sciences and social sciences. The target completion time for a doctoral degree is 3-4 years if you work on your degree full-time.
