EXTENDED! Applications for the Local Friendship Programme are now open until 31 August 2024
We welcome applications from locals and new and enrolled degree students at all levels. The application period is from 15 July to 31 August 2024. Please note, we have extended the application period to give all international Masters students enough time to apply.

Last year's round of applications was the busiest in over the 20-year history of the JYU Friendship programme, with many times more applications than in previous years. Both students and especially local friends were very active - over 140 pairs of friends were formed. All locals who are interested in having an international degree student as a friend, and vice versa, are welcome to join!
General
The programme welcomes all adult (18+) local residents and all forms of family as applicants for local friends. From Autumn 2024, the programme will be open to degree students only, including all academic levels, Bachelor, Master and Doctoral students.
For international students
- If you feel uncomfortable applying alone, don't hesitate to ask one or more of your student friends to apply with you! You can apply together.
- Students with families: Your partner/spouse or children are very welcome.
For local students
- Please consider becoming a local friend of an international student! Many of them wish to have a local student as a friend.
