Cutting-edge infrastructures selected for Finland’s research infrastructure roadmap – JYU to participate in five

The Finnish Research Infrastructure Committee (FIRI Committee) within the Research Council of Finland has granted 21 research infrastructures roadmap status. This means the selected infrastructures will be included in Finland’s national roadmap for research infrastructures 2025–2028.
The Ģֱ’s Accelerator Laboratory (JYFL-ACCLAB), which operates in connection of the Department of Physics, will continue on the roadmap. The Ģֱ will also participate in four other roadmap infrastructures: Common Language Resources and Technology Infrastructure (FIN-CLARIAH), Integrated Atmospheric and Earth System Science Research Infrastructure (INAR RI), National infrastructure for human in digital world (MAGICS) and the Finnish Infrastructure for Register-Based Research (FIRE).
The roadmap for Finnish research infrastructures is a tool for the research community, policymakers and funders to guide investment and support research, development and innovation.
“I am happy for the success of the Ģֱ,” says Kaisa Miettinen, vice rector for research and doctoral education.
“The roadmap includes both long-standing and new infrastructures. I am particularly pleased that the roadmap involves research infrastructures from different disciplines and the coordinators represent four of our faculties.”
The FIRI Committee has outlined that the research infrastructures selected for the roadmap will be granted funding. A total of 130 million euros in funding is available for the roadmap’s research infrastructures. According to the press release of the Research Council of Finland, some of the selected research infrastructures received their funding decisions in December, while the remaining infrastructures will receive theirs at the end of January 2025.
